Customer Success Story
Save Time, Reduce Costs and Prevent Accidents
The maintenance team at the YTL cement plant in Pahang frequently experiences difficulties with mounting and dismounting bearings on roller presses. Conventional techniques, for example using a blowtorch, are time-consuming and costly and involve a significant risk of workplace accidents. As a result, the cement maker was looking for an alternative.
Their choice: the induction system with medium-frequency technology (MFT).
The result: more than 60 percent time savings during maintenance work.
Benefits
More opportunities: suitable for thermal mounting and dismounting, also of large work pieces
More flexibility: choice between flexible and fixed inductors
More sustainability: energy-efficient heating process
More mobility: the MFT goes to the workpiece, not the other way round
More efficiency: lower costs and higher productivity, no mechanical wear of tool
More safety: for both man and machine
Challenge
Solution
Schaeffler Malaysia suggested the medium frequency technology induction system. It is an inventive and ecofriendly technique to heat bearings while using less energy. The bearing mounting was professionally carried out by Schaeffler‘ s mounting service.
Procedure
The inductor is wrapped around the inner ring and connected to the generator. The inner ring is then heated. Then the inner ring is mounted onto the shaft. A Schaeffler transport and mounting tool (BEARING-MATE) was used for this. After the inner ring had cooled down, the outer ring was fitted with rolling elements.
